Its strawberry season and with that comes days picking and enjoying juicy bites of colorful strawberry heaven.  I can remember strawberry picking with my Grampy when I was just a wee little one.  I would carefully pick the biggest ones I could find, and try to fill each green container till it was overflowing with goodness.  If you love eating strawberries why not take it a step further… How about some strawberry inspired paint colors and rooms?

dsc03108the view on our back steps!

It was quite the weekend.  Last minute I backed out of the Walk for Animals with Janessa and Keisha because I was so over come with all the buzz in Bryn Mawr.  It was our very first year living in Bryn Mawr for the festivities and I gotta tell you, WE SCORED BIG!!!!!

Originally we intended to participate, and we did for about an hour in the am.  We are pretty laid back when it comes to yard sale pricing…I can’t tell you how many times I said “A dollar” or “fifty cents”.  Our big sellers were Jake’s XBOX, poor thing sat neglected in the closet for over a year.  I’d rather have it make some little boy ungodly happy then sitting in our closet collecting dust.

Isabella and Nathanial joined us in selling and helped to put stickers on everything.  Then after an hour we packed up our yard sale and spent the rest of the day strolling around the neighborhood checking out people’s junk and in some cases paying for it, and bringing it home.

Here are some of our photos from the day!!!

we met this guy who was WICKED into it!  The Garge sale fairy!!!  Good times had by all!

s

We scored in total: 1 bench, 6 chairs, 1 book case, 1 small table, 1 super fury Jacket, 2 Sorrel winter Boots, and 1 buffet all for the heavy cost of $50.00 which we made at our sale, so we pretty much broke even.  We will be better prepared for next years garage sale and have a whole slew of goodies to sell!  I can’t get wait to get paint on all the new furniture!

Hurray for Yard Sale season!!!!

Pear Apple Crumble… yummy!

Made some delish Pear Apple Crumble last week.  It was supposed to be be Pear Crumble but we didn’t have enough pears so apples made there way into the flavor party.  Oopsy.  a pleasant surprise  it was indeed!

I wanted to bake something for Jakeums because it was the first time in what seems like a lifetime that I had some time off.  I love cooking…but never have the time.  This recipe was a cinch, and my “freestyle cooking” was a great addition to a yummy recipe.

Topping
1/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup oat flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (We love Penzy’s spices over on Hennepin!!!)
2 tablespoons canola oil

Filling
3  ripe but firm  pears, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch pieces
1/4 cup water
tablespoon fresh grated ginger
1 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 Fuji apples, sliced into 1/4-inch pieces

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2.  Prepare topping ingredients  in a medium bowl and stir away…

3.  Combine filling ingredients in 10 x 13 inch pan and stir stir stir.  Add the crumble topping over pear and apple mixture.

4. Bake the crumble until  the topping is golden, 40 to 45 minutes.

5. Add some delicious vanilla ice cream of your choice and call it a day.

Simple, easy, and low on calories.  My mom sent me a wonderful magazine with this recipe in it… I just tweaked it a little.  Once I get home from sunfish lake I’ll include a link to the original…You may prefer that one. In the magazine it said it was around 240 calories.  probably not including ice cream though.  Indulge.

happy munching.  lulu
